Introduction


    This white paper explains the purpose and concept of the Call & See Technology, invented and patented1 by inACTsoft GmbH. It provides a comparison with alternative technologies and highlights features that are unique to Call & See. At last the paper describes the current state of implementation and future extensions.


   One of the success factors of the Internet was that its content was easily and freely accessible. Yet, for content of high value this scheme may no longer be appropriate. Thus, content providers need technologies that let them collect money from users consuming their content. Unfortunately, the Internet is an inherently insecure place. Data streams can be intercepted; individuals can be traced in the web, and yet the anonymity of masses can be misused by criminals for fraud. All this, as well as warnings about dangerous software (such as dialers) increase confusion and fear of users. Call & See is a technology that provides an elegant and efficient way to charge for internet content.
